PC Health Advisor version 3!PC Health Advisor Review Part 1

Does PC Health Advisor really work? Is it actually an effective way to boost computer speed and stop errors?

The program certainly is becoming well known in the computer repair world, but average users still need to know if the program is actually worthwhile.

For these people, and anyone else wondering about PC Health Advisor, I present my PC Health Advisor review. This review is geared towards average and novice computer users  – I will leave the advanced geek speak to another reviewer.

For some background information, PC Health Advisor is designed to perform all major computer repair services, all in one program. PC Health Advisor is developed by ParetoLogic: ParetoLogic, a Microsoft Certified Partner, has about ten different security and utility programs. PC Health Advisor is their latest program, and so far has earned awards from Softpedia, FileTransit, and Download.hr. The software is confirmed to be 100% safe and free of infection.

PC Health Advisor begins with the download. Feel free to download PC Health Advisor and follow along on your own system:

At the time of this article, PC Health Advisor had a download size of 4.95 MB. Since it’s not very big, on my system the download took just 15 seconds. I double-clicked the installer, and completed the rest of the installation process.

PC Health Advisor main scan screen

After opening the software, I went right into the main scan. This is done by clicking the “Click to Start Scan” button.

The scan goes through the following areas:

Registry Errors:

Invalid registry entries and registry clutter are a common cause of PC errors and slowdowns.

Malware Infections:

Malware, like adware, Trojans, and spyware, can seriously impair performance, as well as being a security risk.

Old Drivers:

Without correct and up-to-date drivers, your hardware devices, like printers, sound cards, and video cards, can perform poorly or show error messages.

Privacy Files:

Your PC saves a lot of information about you, from web browsing history to application history. Not only is this a privacy risk, but these privacy files can grow overly large and slow things down.

Startup Items

Unwanted items are often queued to launch when your PC starts. These can make your startup take longer, and impair performance overall.

I was able to fix all these problems immediately with the “Fix All” button. This is another perk: the buttons have common-sense names, so it’s always easy to see what you have to click next.

PC Health Advisor scan results

All of the problem areas above were successfully scanned and fixed. After cleaning, the status of my system changed from red (low health) to green (high health).

As far as the main scan is concerned, my PC Health Advisor review would have to be 5/5. From start to finish, the whole process took less time than it takes to make a cup of tea. Errors were successfully detected in a range of different categories, and much of the process was automated and hands-free.

The software seems to be designed for people who just want to fix their PC and don’t want to spend a lot of time doing it, or who don’t have lots of computer experience.

PC Health Advisor Review Part 3

PC Health Advisor also features a number of extras to optimize your PC. These include:

  • Disk Defragmenter
  • File Extension Manager
  • Startup Manager
  • Toolbar Editor
  • Process Manager
  • Duplicate File Finder
  • Restore Point Manager
  • Windows Tweaks

These tools are accessible through the “Disk” and “Optimize” menus. They are not included in the main scan, but this is probably a good thing, as they don’t need to be used quite as often. Each of these tools is quite easy to use, and effectively cleaned the areas they were designed to.

In the fall of 2010, PC Health Advisor was upgraded to Version 3. This upgraded the program with a couple of very interesting features. For one, the disk defragmenter now includes an automatic feature, which sets it to run when the disk becomes overly fragmented.  Also included in the update is a hands-free, automatic update to the File Extension Manager. Now, if you ever come across an unknown file, PC Health Advisor will help you open it automatically.

PC Health Advisor users can expect more updates and improvements, as ParetoLogic launches them…
